Self-managing your NDIS funding gives you the most choice and control over your supports. It can feel daunting at first, but with the right knowledge it becomes much more manageable. Here is a simple overview.

What is self-management?

Self-management means you are responsible for managing the funds in your plan. You choose your providers, arrange your supports, pay invoices and keep records. It offers great flexibility, including the ability to work with providers who are not NDIS registered.

The benefits

  • Maximum choice and control over your supports
  • Flexibility in who you work with
  • The chance to get strong value from your plan
  • A greater sense of ownership over your supports

The responsibilities

With flexibility comes responsibility. You will need to keep records and invoices, claim through the myplace portal, and make sure your spending aligns with your plan. Many participants find that a few simple systems make this straightforward.
